Sarah Bradford's 'Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her people', was the inspiration for my collage, 'Harriet Tubman Underground'. As a 10 year old, I can remember learning about Harriet and the Underground Railroad, and being fascinated by her story. It was one of my earliest memories of discovering that the world not always good and right; it made a big impression on me. As an adult, I read Ms. Bradford's book and set my mind to creating an image that I hoped would represent the darkness of the times in which Harriet Tubman lived, and convey the heroic life that she led.
